The heroes of the Black Stars’ successful 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign will meet Ghana President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo today, FMiG has learnt.
The meeting which is set for late afternoon is to formally convey congratulatory messages to the gallant Black Stars players who secured qualification for the country to football’s biggest showpiece and also outline the way forward.
The Coach Otto Addo-led Black Stars team defied the odds to outduel the much fancied Nigeria in two legs to make the cut for the FIFA World Cup Cup in Qatar this year.
The defining moment was in Abuja where Ghana held their own to secure a crucial 1-1 draw to seal qualification by virtue of the away goal.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup has been publicly affirmed as a government project and finally qualifying brings gratification to the Presidency.
The Black Stars contingent to meet the President will be led by the Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku. Other officials include, the Vice-president who also doubles as the Management Committee Chairman of the Black Stars, Samuel Osei Kuffour and the rest.
The Black Stars technical team members, Otto Addo, Chris Hughton, George Boateng and Masud Didi Dramani will also be part of the selection.
The playing body will also make the visit which will also present an opportunity for the president to outline his targets for the team at the Mundial.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup starts in November this year. Ghana will know her Group stage opponents on Friday April 1 when the draw is held.
