Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo has completed a move to Swedish side IF Elfborg in the ongoing transfer window.

The midfielder has signed a three-year deal with the club following a successful negotiations.

He joins the side from Norwegian side Sandness ULF where he was having a good spell.

Baidoo scored 5 and assisted 4 for the Norwegian side in 29 games.

A statement on the website read,

“IF Elfsborg are very happy to be able to present the coveted midfielder Michael Baidoo as a new player in yellow and black. The 22-year-old comes most recently from Norwegian Sandnes Ulf.

Michael Baidoo started his football career in his native Ghana and the club Vision FC in the capital Accra. As an 18-year-old, he moved to Denmark for FC Midtjylland’s elite activities to later be loaned to Danish FC Fredericia and later FK Jerv in the second highest league (OBOS league) in Norway. Here it was a success for the offensive midfielder. In total, he scored 6 goals and 5 assists in 40 league matches – and after the season was named player of the year in Grimstadklubben.

The success of FK Jerv in the spring of 2021 led to a transfer to Sandnes Ulf in the same league. Here, the 22-year-old has continued to impress. In total, there were 29 matches, 4 goals and 5 assists.

Chased by several top clubs in the Norwegian high school division, but when Allsvenska IF Elfsborg heard about it, he did not hesitate.

– It feels great. We have long tried to make this transition – now I am happy that everything has gone through and that I am here, says Michael Baidoo.

On Tuesday afternoon, Michael arrived in BorĂ¥s. He tells about the first impression of IF Elfsborg.

– It’s like a family, I would say. The welcome has been fantastic and everyone is very nice, so I am happy, says Michael.

Why did it become IF Elfsborg?

– For me, it is important to take the right steps in my career, and it feels like this is the right step to take. Elfsborg’s coach has been keeping an eye on me for a long time, he has a plan for me and that means a lot to me as a player and person, says Michael.

– I’m really looking forward to getting started. I’m here to write my name in the club’s history book, so I’ll do my best for the team, says Michael.
