Former Ghana International Sam Foyoo Johnson has recommended Ex-Ghana International Otto Addo for the vacant role of the Black Stars Coach.
The GFA on Monday announced the termination of the contract of CK Akonnor as well as his two assistants following a string of unimpressive results.
The Ghana Football Association have placed the enviable task of finding CK Akonnor’s successor in the hands of a three-man committee that includes GFA Vice President Mark Addo.
Several local media reports and social media commentaries have suggested the GFA’s 3-man committee should give Otto Addo a look-in and Sam Johnson who was Otto Addo’s teammate at the 2000 African Cup of Nations has reechoed such thoughts.
According to Sam Johnson, Otto Addo has garnered the necessary experience and would be a good fit if chosen for the Black Stars job.
“I prefer a local for the Black Stars and Otto Addo has the capabilities to Coach the Black Stars. He’s been a Coach for a while, although he’s not coached a National team before” – Sam Johnson told Empire FM.
“If we pick Otto Addo for the Black Stars, I would wish that he’s paired with someone. If we get some of the young Coaches on the local scene to support him it will be very good.” – Sam Johnson concluded while speaking on Empire FM.
Otto Addo is currently an assistant coach at German based club, Borussia Dortmund having began his coaching at Hamburg.
