Ghanaian attacker Micheal Sarpong featured as Young Africans beat Simba FC to win the 2021 Mapinduzi Cup on Wednesday.
Yanga won 4-3 on penalties after a barren draw in regulation time at Amaan stadium in Zanzibar to win their first trophy of the season.
Simba had in the semi-finals edged out Namungo to advance to the final while Yanga beat Azam 2-0 in extra time to book a date with their arch rivals.
Sarpong lasted the entire duration of the game to help his side overcome their bitter rivals.
The former Dreams FC attacker has been an influential part of Young African since joining at the beginning of the season.
He has scored four goals in 14 games for the club so far.
The Mapinduzi Cup is a special competition played by East African clubs to commemorate the Revolution of Zanzibar.
