The Division One League is just a week old but the lightening speed it has swept the football landscape with is incredible, with the Bono-Derby stealing the headlines for Match Day 2.

Only one game of the 2020-21 National Division One League season has been played and already the likely candidates have gathered at the top of the table.

Young Apostles started their campaign for the only ticket in Zone 1 with a win, Nsoatreman, Mighty Royals and Berekum Arsenal prevailed to take their first three points of the season, while big guys Bofokwa Tano collapsed at home and B. A United lost away.

Though former Premier League side RTU and city rivals Tamale City had their opening games postponed, they can’t be written off ahead of their first matches of the season.

Former Black Stars midfielder, Gargo Mohammed suffered defeat in his first game in charge of Steadfast, with Gbewaa FC drawing at Suntaa.

The second week fixtures for the most exciting Zone in the second tie of Ghana Football, offers up some huge encounters, not least a meeting of last term’s top two at the Coronation Park.

Undoubtedly the headline act is B. A. United hosting Bofokwa after both sides lost their opening fixtures.

Reminiscing a Dortmund-Schalke 04 clash or a Chelsea-Arsenal encounter, the Bono-Derby promises to live up to the billing following the Match Day 1 upset suffered by both sides.

The derby sold out stupendous display of football and an incredible demonstration of fan base.

While the Bono-Derby steals the headlines, former Premier League campaigners RTU will be playing their first league game as their opener was cancelled due to the late return of Techiman City back into the league.

All eyes will be on Real Tamale United as coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko shaffles his squad at Rawlings Park in Kintampo, while Tamale City travels to Nkuranza for a tough encounter against Worriors on Sunday.

Yendi Gbewaa’s season got off to a fantastic start, drawing 1-1 away at Wa Suntaa and looking like the much better side on the day.

Admittedly some wasteful finishing might be a cause for concern but they should be able to create plenty of opportunities to bury Mighty Royals who accounted for Steadfast in their opening game. This game however is slated at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
