Ashimeru, a former WAFA SC player joins his new side from Red Bull Salzburg where he had been on the periphery mostly throughout the last two season.

Anderlecht Sports Director Peter Verbeke described his side’s latest acquisition as a ‘young and versatile midfielder whose profile matches what the club is looking for.

“Majeed is a young, versatile midfielder with a lot of verticality in his game. He was schooled withing the Red Bull philosophy, meaning his profile matches what we look for in a player. On top of that, Majeed has a good acceleration and he loves to infiltrate,” he said.

“Even more importantly, Majeed really wanted to come to Anderlecht, and we negotiated an option to buy the player, which gives us a perspective on a long term collaboration,” he added.

Ashimeru is expected to get into the Purple and Whites first team straightaway and eye more minutes in their ongoing campaign in the Belgian Jupiler League.

He will work under manager Vincent Kompany.
