Kpando Heart of Lions opened their 2020/2021 National Division One league season with a home win against Visitors Vision FC.

The former Premiership side aiming for elite football this season made their intentions known early into the game and scored their first goal through defender Abednego Sarfo on the 20th minute after a sloppy defending from Vision FC.

With the fans now allowed to return to the stadium for the first time since the corona virus outbreak, the hosts tossed them with beautiful display and cushioned their lead on the 45th minute after a dangerous cross from Patrick Wilson Mensah was turned home by Samuel Amoah.

Vision FC however returned from the recess and reduced the deficit on the 68th minute through Mohammed Karim from the penalty spot. The game ended 2-1 in favor of Lion.

Elsewhere in Tema, two second half goals from Daniel Appiah and Gordon Akaminko’s 94th minute penalty gave Tema Youth a win over Accra Young Wise at the Tema Sports Stadium.

Robert Damptey brought Young Wise parity but that wasn’t enough to rescue a point. Philip Ofori was also red carded on the 47th minute for a second bookable offence in the game.

In Accra, Accra Lions recorded the season’s maiden win in week one of their Division One League campaign by surging from two goals down to whip Accra City FC 3-2 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The away side, Accra City FC showed their prowess, scoring two goals within two minutes after Sadat Mohammed opened the scoring on 28th minutes in the half hour-mark before Mohammed Alhassan increased the lead 2-0, taking the game into the half time with their heads high.

Accra Lions came back the strongest side in the second half and were awarded a penalty where Rauf converted perfectly for the host.

Evans Etti, became the hero of the day as he scored a brace to give Accra Lions the well deserved home victory.

His first was on the 73rd minute and second on the 75th. Accra Lions travels to Agbozume Weavers in Week Two.

Elsewhere in Akosombo, Phar Ranges stun their host Krystal Palace with an 82nd minutes strike from Nicholas Osei Bonsu.

On Saturday, Uncle T FC pulled an upset on Mighty Jets at the Tema Sports Stadium when they held host Mighty Jets to a 1-1 drawn game.

The visitors opened the scoring on the 39th minute through an audacious effort of Enoch Agblenyo to send his side all smilling into the half time.

Luck however eluded them as they conceded early into the second half after Frederick Akatuk managed to draw the host parity on the 48th minute to bring smiles on the faces of the few home fans around.

Efforts from both teams to get a winner proved ruthless. It ended 1-1.

The Zimmerman Presby Park saw a high spirited performance from visiting team Planners Athletic Club at Nungua.

Though the guest displayed total dominance in the early stages of the game, Jonathan Sowah put the host ahead on the 15th minute from a half volley to send the signal of what is expected this season.

Planners however continuously probed the opponent’s goal area with Osman Haqi, Seth Kumah and Eric Kipo exerting massive pressure on the defense of the host.

Defender Vitus Yamoah coming from an impressive pre-season scoring form, scored a late equalizer for Planners on the 86th minutes to rescue a point.

Meanwhile the game involving Nania Fc and Agbozume Weavers has been postponed to Wednesday whiles Kotoku Royals game against Amidaus Professionals has been cancelled due to Amidaus Professionals’ inability to register any player for the season.
