Hearts of Lions play maker, Sadat Ayara has donated the jersey he wore at the just ended WAFU U20 tournament in Benin to the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana- Volta, Eric Eli Adzie.

The donation was made on the 10th January 2021 in Kpando after Heart of Lions’ slim 2-1 victory over Vision Fc in the opening day of matches in the National Division One.

In a brief statement, Ayara said he recognized the level of publicity Eric Eli Adzie has given to players from the region and commended his effort.

“We players from the region and those closer to you have received great publicity from you (Eric), the support you have given us on social media to ensure we also come to the lime light is highly commendable. I am very happy for the level of publicity and so I decided to give you the jersey I wore at the U20 WAFU tournament in Benin as a sign of appreciation.”

Eric Eli Adzie receiving the gift also thanked him for the gesture, promising to do more for the players in Volta and outside the region to get the needed recognition. He also used the opportunity to wish him well in his career as a football player.

“I am highly grateful for this honor, for remembering me alone is indeed a moment of magnificence and honestly I wasn’t expecting this. I will do more to project every player from and outside the Region to get to the highest level of football through publicity and encouragement, and it’s my prayer that players get the recognition they deserve.”

“I wish you well in your football career, the sky is the limit, aim higher and one day, you will get there.” He added.

Eric Eli Adzie doubles as sports journalist with GBC Volta Star Radio and also the head of Communications Department of the Volta Regional Football Association.

Ayara was part of the U20 squad that won the Wafu Zone B Championship in Benin.
