Highly-rated young Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala has confirmed talks are ongoing between his camp and Asante Kotoko about a possible transfer.

The Porcupine Warriors are preparing for the upcoming season where they are set to compete in the domestic competitions as well as the CAF Champions league.

In an attempt to bolster his squad, Head Coach Maxwell Konadu is making some interesting additions.

Already Kotoko have captured the signatures midfielder Emmanuel Keyekeh from Karela United, and former AshGold defender Mubarik Yusif on a free.

There are also reports about the likes of Latif Anabila and Justice Blay being in the pipeline while former Ghanaian Youth player Patrick Asmah is also close to joining.

Reports from the local media suggested the Porcupine Warriors have set their eyes on Mukwala who finished last season with 13 goals in 23 appearances for Maroons FC as he played on loan from Vipers FC.

He eventually won the Top scorer award and has been coveted by top sides both in his home country and abroad.

Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa FM, Mukwala confirmed talks with Kotoko but stressed a deal hadn’t been agreed.

“For now I can’t say much because we are still negotiating. We haven’t finished the deal yet.We are in talks and I hope for the best,” Mukwala told Oyerepa FM

Should the move for the 20 year old become successful, Mukwala will become the third Ugandan to play for Kotoko after Joseph Ochaya and George Abege.
