Asante Kotoko’s quest to put together a solid team ahead of the new season continues as reports reaching FMIG indicate the club is on the verge of completing a deal for highly coveted midfielder Sulley Muniru.
Muniru, 28 is the younger brother of Ghanaian football icon Sulley Muntari and is currently unattached after running down his deal with Russian Premier league side FC Tambov.
Sulley Muniru, a versatile midfielder who can play both on the offensive and defensive has vast experience playing at the top level, and his inclusion will be a massive boost for the Porcupine Warriors ahead of the upcoming domestic season and the CAF Champions League campaign.
According to FMIG’s source, talks are progressing smoothly but there still remains certain details to conclude. The talks currently have moved on from the willingness to play to the length of the proposed contract from Kotoko, the exact role(s) he’s expected to play and the financial package that will be given him should he sign the dotted lines.
No guarantees have been given yet but our source hints the player is keen on being part of the current Kotoko project; as he has been a fan of the club since childhood.
Sulley Muniru previously played in the Ghanaian top flight with Liberty Professionals and has also had stints with clubs in Portugal, Romania, Belarus and Turkey.
Should talks eventually prove successful, Muniru will be the fourth new signing for the club after the capture of Emmanuel Keyekeh, Mubark Alhassan and Patrick Asmah.
