St. Gallen goalkeeper, Lawrence Ati Zigi has spoken ahead of the Ghana’s friendly clash versus Mali encounter on October 9 in Turkey, saying that he sees a great opportunity in there for him.
The team is currently based in Antalya, the venue for the match preparing for the task ahead. Coach Charles Akonnor who will be taken charge of his first game took the players through an intense training session to ready them for the task ahead.
Goalkeeper Ati Zigi who will be eyeing a starting berth due to the absence of first choice goalie Richard Ofori, spoke to Ghana FA TV after the session where he shared his observation of happenings so far plus his expectations going into the clash with Mali and the subsequent one against Qatar on October 12.
The Swiss based goalkeeper was satisfied with his output in training and admitted that the team is focused on the upcoming friendly games against Mali and Qatar.
“It was a little bit intense because I travelled yesterday and I came at dawn, so it was exhausting but, a very good training,” Ati Zigi told Ghana FA TV.
“It’s a great opportunity for me. I just have to stay focused and work hard and hopefully everything is going to be fine and we see the way forward.
“It’s actually a different group of players. Here, there are totally different players from different clubs so it’s not really the same compared to my club. But seeing the quality of players we have here, I think we going to a have a great game and a great time here.
“It’s an important game for us and we have to focus on this game, take everything serious, stay together and we will have a great game ” Ati Zigi added.
