Former Asante Kotoko SC defender Amos Frimpong has thrown his support behind his former club to play in the upcoming Caf Inter-club competition.

The Poccupine Warriors, following the cancellation of the 2019/20 League Season, were selected to represent the country in the upcoming CAF Champions League.

They will be trading with regional rivals Ashanti Gold Sporting Club who will be representing Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Despite the suspension of football for six months now due to the COVID-19 pandemic,  the Ghanaian powerhouse have agreed to play in Africa next season.

Having taken the bold step to play, former skipper and one of the longest serving players of the Reds, Amos Frimpong, has rallied his unflinching support for club.

“Such decisions are normally taken by the board of directors, management and technical term.

“Using coach CK Akonnor’s era where we were not active, the management took a bold decision for us to represent Ghana. We even exceeded our target by qualifying for the group stage”

“We seem to have the same situation at the moment so if the leadership assesses the strength of the team and decide to play in Africa, I think it is in the right direction” Amos told Hello FM.

“When we play in Africa, it raises the value of the players where some even get better offers for the club to earn something”

“So if the board decides to allow the team to take the opportunity, it is good” he concluded.

Asante Kotoko SC is a two time Champions League winners and a one time CAF Confederation Cup winner.
