Head coach of Celta Vigo Óscar García has cast doubt on the availability of their most reliable defender Joseph Aidoo ahead of their must-win last game of the season against already relegated Espanyol.
Aidoo picked a knock during the side’s 3-2 home loss to UD Levante in the penultimate game of the campaign on Thursday set to miss the last and important game of the season on Sunday.
According to the coach, the former Inter Allies defender had some discomfort in their penultimate game against Levante and can’t say if he will be available for the game against Espanyol.
“The Aidoo thing was a surprise. I found out late that he had discomfort or a small injury,” he explained in the press room.
Celta will not have Rubén Blanco, Sergio Álvarez, Juncà, Denis Suárez, Rafinha and Nolito for the match due to injuries.
Celta Vigo sits 17th place with 36 points from 37 games, a point above CD Leganes who will face already crowned champions Real Madrid on the final day.
