Member of the Women’s League board, Cleopatra Nsiah Nketiah has lauded Youth Employment Agency’s decision to enroll 500 players from the women’s league unto its Youth in Sports Program.
The program which is an initiative of the Government of Ghana through the YEA, will pay players in the Women’s top flight division monthly allowances for the next six months beginning from July 2020.
The Executive Council took the decision on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, to give all 500 slots allocated to the GFA to Women’s football.
“It’s a laudable initiative by the government. That is what YEA are there for. Even some of the men Footballers don’t get ¢500 a month. So it will help us a lot. We shouldn’t treat football like it’s something secret” Cleopatra who is also the CEO of Ridge City FC said in an interview on FootballMadeInGhana’s Ghfootyshow.
“Those ladies playing football are also youth and a good initiative like this can go a long way to help the clubs. Though the government said 6 months to test waters I’m sure it will continue after the six months”
