Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Osei Kwame has successfully undergone surgery after dislocating his ligaments, and the player is hugely grateful to the club.

Osei Kwame spent almost six hours and thirty minutes under the knife as the Head of Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate at KATH, Dr. Konadu Yeboah corrected his anterior crucial ligament tear in his right foot.

The goalkeeper picked up the injury at his former club, Inter Allies.

Although the surgery was performed on it, a poor management of the rehabilitation process did not allow the injury to heal thereby resurfacing again shortly after joining the Porcupines.

Hollard insurance company paid GHc 15, 000 to cover the cost of the surgery which doctors say would bring back life into the goalkeeper’s right leg to enable him to continue playing football.

Although Osei Kwame’s form has since not been in doubt, his presence in the team has been unstable. He has been going out of action as the injury keeps recurring.

The injury showed its face again early this year but this time in a manner that was threatening to end the goalkeeper’s young but enterprising career.

Following a swift intervention by the club, Hollard Insurance funded the surgery which was performed last Wednesday, and now the goalkeeper is thankful to the company for saving his career.

“I thank Hollard Insurance Company Limited so much for coming to my aid to sponsor the surgery,” Osei Kwame told Kotoko Express App when General Manager, Nana Akwasi Gyambibi visited him at the Accident and Emergency Unit at the KATH on Thursday.

“They have saved my career and I cannot thank them enough.”

“Injuries are part of football, so for as long as we continue to be in this sport, players will always be prone to it.

“My plea is that the supporters keep on doing business with Hollard Insurance so they can continue to flourish to be able to assist when injuries like this occur.”

Osei Kwame also thanked the management for all the attention it gave him throughout his time in the club.

“I thank the Management and the club. Players are mostly left on their own when they sustain an injury like mine. But the club stood by me through it all, and ensured that I get back to my feet.”

“I feel a new sense of happiness especially now that I am assured of full fitness. And I promise to come back stronger to fight for a place in the team.”
