The Sports Ministry will ensure the payment of monies owed former Black Stars head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, sector Minister Isaac Kwame Asiamah has confirmed.
The Sports Minister disclosed this during a press briefing on the easing of restriction on sporting activities in the current climate of the Coronavirus pandemic.
In recent past, the former Black Stars Coach has been on the neck of the Ghana FA demanding payment of his outstanding salary arrears of five months (between August and December 2019) amounting to $185,000.
There has been a back and forth on the matter between the country’s football governing body and Coach’s camp. The matter however escalated when the Sports minister’s personal spokesperson Kofi Asare Brako labelled the ex-coach as ungrateful.
However, the sports minister has assured they will make payment to Kwesi Appiah.
“Kwesi Appiah has done a lot for Ghana. We respect him, We gave him the job and gave him all the support. We owe him some arrears from his contract extension and we cannot say we will not pay him. Gradually, we will pay him all his entitlements”, Isaac Asiamah told the press.
