Bechem United Chief Executive Officer Nana Kwasi Darlington says he feels 2019/20 league season is all but over due to recent address by the Government of Ghana.
All football leagues in the country have been halted since mid-March due to the pandemic as part of measures to help curb the spread of the disease.
President of the country, Nana Akuffo Addo addressing the nation on Sunday, May 31, 2020, stated ardently that ban on sporting activities remained untouched as his administration seeks to combat the pandemic.
Again, the president despite easing social gathering restrictions did not include the lifting of bounds on football activities in the country.
The ban on football activities in Ghana will remain in force until at least 31st July 2020 according to the first gentleman of the land.
But reacting to the issue on Oyerepa FM, the CEO who has been craving for the continuity of the league admits he has lost hope and feels the league will be cancelled.
“After listening to the President of Ghana, I have lost hope that the suspended league season will resume.
“The next briefing will be on July 31 and should we be allowed to play Football, clubs will need weeks to go back to the field which takes us into August.
“I have lost hope and don’t think the league will continue, am sure it will be canceled.”
Meanwhile the GFA will take a decision on the future of the league on June 30.
