The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to postpone the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The continent’s flagship tournament was scheduled to take place in Cameroon between 9th January and 6th February 2021.
However, a report by RMC Sports claims an unnamed source has confirmed the organizers are seriously considering the option of moving the date to January 22.
The source said: “Today the trend is to postpone the tournament to January 2022”.
Football worldwide has been on hold as a result of the pandemic, which has taken nearly 4oo,000 lives to date.
Recently, CAF announced the postponement of the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) indefinitely, after hosts Cameroon had requested the rescheduling of the biennial tournament.
