Newly signed Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Poku has revealed he was close to joining arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak but for the release of the Anas AremeYaw Anas expose about Ghana Football.
Kwame Poku completed his move to the Porcupine Warriors just days after the activation of the second transfer window. The player has committed to a 3 year deal and is available for selection for Maxwell Konadu’s side should the league resume.
However, a disclosure by the player indicates he would have been wearing a different shirt and representing a different side now.
The former Nkoranza Warriors hit man in an interview with Kotoko’s official channel revealed that he was so close to joining Hearts of Oak, Kotoko’s bitterest rivals.
He revealed that after having an excellent season at Central regional second division side, Cape Coast Metro Stars-where he banged in 18 goals in 19 appearances- he was offered a trial stint with Accra Hearts of Oak. He narrates that all went well until his plans to join officially got jeopardized after Ghana football was put on hold and its future left in limbo following the releases of the Anas expose titled Number 12.
