Ghana defender John Boye continued his fine form for club side FC Metz, as he notched the match winner in a 2-1 result against Nimes on Saturday.
Boye who captained the side scored with 9 minutes of normal time remaining in the game, with the scores tied at 1-1.
Metz opened the scoring courtesy Senegalese forward Opa Nguette in the 7th minute. The home side took the lead into the first half but conceded an equalizer back from recess.
Lucas Deaux restored parity for the away side just 4 minutes into the second half.
Metz pushed for a second goal and a potential match winner which eventually came with 81 minutes on the referee’s watch.
The experienced Ghana center back John Boye headed in the match winner from a corner kick to put his side back in front.
The game ended 2-1 with Metz taking another huge step towards safety in the French top flight. They now occupy the 15th spot on 34 points; 6 points away from the relegation zone.
Boye’s goal was his second this season and the 3000th goal for Metz in the French Championship.
