Top performing Medeama SC goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi has thrown his unflinching support behind the recently announced Black Stars squad, particularly the goalkeepers, despite being snubbed by Head Coach C.K Akonnor.
CK Akonnor named his 23 man squad for Ghana’s AFCON 2021 double header with Sudan later this month and conspicuously missing from the list was the name of the former Ghana U-20 star.
Ofori Antwi who also doubles as Medeama’s skipper has been immense for the club this season with consistent match-winning saves and excellent leadership qualities that has propelled them to the summit of the league log.
His consistent top notch performances for the Mauve and Yellows convinced many that he would be getting into the senior national football team when the technical handlers release the list of selected players.
Instead, CK Akonnor called up the trio of Maritzburg United’s Richard Ofori, Azam FC’s Razak Abalora and Richard Attah of Hearts of Oak.
This ignited a debate in the media space, with social media awash with claims that the Black Stars B goalkeeper has been denied a deserving opportunity.
However in a clever display of maturity, Eric Ofori Antwi took to twitter to celebrate his colleagues on getting invited and wished them the best in the encounters with Sudan.
Find below his reaction on twitter.
