Combustibility, Ferocity and Intensity; all these are expected to come alive when Medeama SC welcome Asante Kotoko to the Tarkwa Akoon Park on Match Week 4 of the Ghana Premier League.

The fixture which promises to be feisty takes place on Wednesday January 15 with a lot at stake for the two sides.

Medeama SC will hope to return to winning ways after the draw with Liberty Professionals intheir last game jolted their push for the league title. They also have an unbeaten run to protect when the Porcupine Warriors come to town.

Kotoko on the other hand, saw their winning start to the campaign grind to halt after a painful 1-0 home defeat to Berekum Chelsea. A lot has happened since then and threatens to psychologically impact negatively on the playing body when they take to the field against Medeama SC.

Both teams have announced their 18 man squad for the game with Medeama SC Head Coach Samuel Boadu sticking to the same squad he used against Liberty on Match Week 3.

Star midfielder Kwasi Donsu is expected to start while Prince Opoku Agyemang will aim at return to the scoresheet as he pursues Yahaya Mohammed for the top scorer gong. He will be supported in attack by the young but explosive Ebenezer Ackhabi and Agyenim Boateng. The league’s super sub Nana Kofi Babil once again is expected to start from the bench as he continues to be Medeama’s trump card.

Here is a predicted starting lineup for Medeama SC

Eric Ofori Antwi, Samuel Appiah, Philip Osei, Daniel Egyin, Ibrahim Yaro, Richard Boadu, Agyei Boakye, Kwasi Donsu, Agyenim Boateng, Ebenezer Ackhabi, Prince Opoku-Agyemang

Kotoko have also announced an 18 man squad that comprise Sogne Yacouba, Justice Blay, Augustine Okrah and Emmanuel Gyamfi.

Blay returns to his former side for the first time in the league since switching camp some months ago.

Coach Maxwell Konadu is expected to line up with these players barring any unforseen circumstances.

Felix Annan, Christopher Nettey, Moro Ibrahim, Wahab Adams, Agyemang Badu, Justice Blay, Collins Ameyaw, Mudasiru Salifu, Songne Yacouba, Augustine Okrah, Emmanuel Gyamfi.

Medeama’s first ever game after the successful takeover by businessman Moses Armah was against Kotoko in Kumasi.

A Richard Mpong goal gave Medeama a 1 nil win.

Kotoko won their first away game at Tarkwa against Medeama by 1 nil on June 5, 2011.

Since then Kotoko went on a 12 game unbeaten run against Medeama (W7 D5) until Medeama broke that jinx in April 2017.

That 2-1 win recorded in April 2017, remains the last time these two sides met in the league.

Medeama are searching for their third league win against Kotoko while Kotoko are seeking their ninth win over their opponent.

There have 6 draws between the sides as they lock horns in their 17th league fixture.
