The 2019/2020 Division One League season in Ghana eventually kicked off on Saturday with some shocking results at some of the deadly match venues.

Giants Bogoakwa Tano and BA United recorded victories in Zone 1 to set their season on a brilliant start while former Premier League campaigners Berekum Arsenal and Techiman City failed to pick maximum points on day one.

In Zone two, goals were hard to flow as former Premier League sides Sekondi Hasaacas and New Edubiase United shared the spoils while BYF Academy missed the opportunity of picking their first win away by fluffing all the chances.

The academy side seven free kicks, three one-on-one opportunities and eleven corner kicks but squandered all. The hosts ended up picking three yellow cards with BYF Academy receiving none but were just unlucky to score.

A total of 37 goals were scored in all 23 matches played with the game between Swedru All Blacks and Star Madrid failing to kick off.

Zone 3 recorded the highest number of goals, registering 19 goals with Zone 1 following with 12 while Zone 2 just remained a semi-virgin with just 6 goals in 8 games.

A total of four clubs recorded victories away with ten clubs winning at home while 9 draws were recorded.
