Black Stars player ratings from 1-0 win against São Tomé

FootballMadeInGhana.com writer Daraja Kapoor rates the performance of Black Stars players in their 1-0 win away to São Tomé on Monday.

Every player is marked out of 10.

Richard Ofori 6- Had virtually nothing to do all game but needless got himself booked for time wasting in stoppage time.

Andy Yiadom 7-  A good game overall. Defensively solid and contributed his quota in attack.

Kassim Nuhu 8 –  Another matured and composed performance. Quickly establishing himself as Ghana’s best defender. Was always one step ahead of the opposition. Man of the Match!

Joseph Aidoo 7 – A very solid display once again from the Celta Vigo ace. Complimented Nuhu well in the heart of defense

Gideon Mensah 7 – In his second start for the senior national team, he showed exactly why he is one of the most highly rated youngsters in the country. São Tomé just couldn’t deal with his deliveries in the box and Partey really should’ve scored from one of such beauties in the 46th minute.

Iddrisu Baba 6 – A couple of missed placed passes here and there but another good performance overall by the Real Mallorca midfielder. Shielded the back four well

Thomas Partey 7 – Despite the poor state of the pitch, the Atlético Madrid midfielder was relentless. controlled the tempo of the game and was the heartbeat of the team. Can’t fault effort!

Samuel Owusu 5- Huffed and puffed in possession but didn’t do anything noteworthy and was rightfully substituted in the 70th minute

Andre Ayew 6 – The skipper had a quiet game by his lofty standards. Wasn’t as involved as he was at home against South Africa. Tough day at the office!

Jordan Ayew 7 – Converted from the penalty spot to hand Ghana a labored but vital 3 points. Had a good game overall.

Emmanuel Boateng 6 – Worked tirelessly in attack but had to feed of scrapes. Won the crucial penalty.

SUBS

Mohamed Kudus 6- The 19 year old obviously didn’t have the same impact as he did last time out but continued to show great promise nonetheless

Christopher Antwi-Adjei 6: Finally got the chance to make his international debut. Injected pace into Ghana’s attack and was not afraid to take on defenders. Decent cameo

Joseph Attamah N/A: came on as replacement for Iddrisu Baba in stoppage time
