Accra Hearts of Oak came from behind to earn a draw against rejuvenated Premier League side Wa All Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It was a thrilling encounter as both sides aimed at testing the strength of their team ahead of the forthcoming Ghana Premier League season.
Wa All Stars, led by John Painstil, had a good start to the game by dominating in the early proceedings.
Shot stopper Fatawu Dauda produced a brilliant outing to deny Benjamin Eshun and Kofi Kordzi from finding the net as Hearts of Oak searched for the opener.
Wa All-Stars finally took the lead just before the break through Gerald Arkson, the former Liberty Professional midfielder who curled the ball passed the helpless Benjamin Mensah.
Hearts of Oak came into the second half looking more threatening.
Joseph Esso came close in the 68th minute but his shot was saved by veteran goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda.
Manaf Umar also tested Fatau Dauda but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Substitute Obeng Junior got the needed equalizer for the Phobians in the 77th minute heading home a cross from Sumaila Larry.
Hearts of Oak piled a lot of pressure on the visitors but couldn’t get the winner as the referee whistled for the end of the game.
