Ghana U23 Manager Ibrahim Tanko

Ghana Black Meteors manager Ibrahim Tank remains unbeaten after six games as the head coach of the side following their 1-1 stalemate with Cameroon in the ongoing U23 AFCON Tournament in Egypt.

The only defeat to Tanko came when he lost by a lone goal to Togo in Lome in the second leg of the first round qualifiers.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward was named the head coach of the side after the death of then coach of the side Yusif Abubakar in November last year.

Following his appointment last year, Tanko has managed 3 wins and 3 draws and a defeat in seven games, making him unbeaten after 6 matches.

A total of 13 goals have been scored by Tanko’s side while conceding just three in all the seven games played.

Despite the short time given him to assemble a team for the qualifiers, Tanko managed to whip Togo by 5-1 after conceding an early goal from the Togolese.

A stupendous second half performance from Tanko and his boys saw the Black Meteors giving their Togolese counterparts a befitting welcome.

The side also managed to thump Gabon by 4-0 in the second qualifying fixture before traveling to secure a vital away win over Algeria to qualify for the tournament.

In all these games, the second half performance of Tanko’s side has been amazing as he whips his opponents with his tactical acumen at that point.

Against Togo, 4 of the goals were scored in the second half while 3 of the 4 goals against Gabon were scored in the second half.

Tanko’s side won the final game in Algeria in the second half and secured a 1-1 stalemate against Cameroon in the U23 AFCON Tournament with a late strike from Habib Mohammed.

Tanko is gradually demonstrating his tactical prowess especially from the bench, winning or picking major point from the second half.
