Ghane opened their U23 African Cup of Nations with a draw against Cameroon on Thursday night.
Habib Mohammed’s late strike cancelled Frank Evina’s beautifully taken second half free kick to earned Ghana a point in the game.
Both teams started the game very slow as they tried to find their feet in the game…
Evans Mensah was Ghana’s brightest spot causing a lot of problems to the Cameroonian defense.
Habib Mohammed nearly broke the deadlock for Ghana but his header was stopped by Omossola.
Ghana continued to have more of the balls but couldn’t get past the resolute Cameroon defense.
The first ended 0-0.
Cameroon came back from recess looking to draw the first blood.
Their effort finally paid off in 65th minute when a sublime freekick by Frank Evina broke the deadlock of the game for the Cameroonians.
The Meteors pushed for the equaliser but missed few chances which included Kwabena Owusu’s freekick and a curler in the 18 yard box.
Ghana got the equalizer in the 86th minute when Habib Mohammed migrated from his defensive position to find the equaliser for team after he struggled with his opponents in their 18 yard box.
Habib survived in getting the ball and subsequently knocked it into the net to restore parity.
The Black Meteors will face Egypt on Monday for their second game.
