Ashantigold defender Eric Donkor has jumped to the defence of his underfire teammate Richard Osei Agyemang after their 3-2 win over RS Berkane.
Osei Agyemang who featured in the game despite his injury was subjected to a lot of criticism and vilification from the fans after putting underwhelming performance in the game, the defender was eventually substituted in the second half after aggravating the injury during the game.
Speaking to footballmadeinghana.com after the game, Donkor expressed his disgust with the attitude of the fans and admitted he wouldn’t feel okay if he were to be in the shoes of his teammate.
“Mistakes happens in football, I wouldn’t feel okay if I were to be in his Patrick Osei Agyeman’s shoes now, but we are a team.
“We win together and lose together so we just encouraged ourselves in the dressing room and you could see the determination in the eyes of the players”.
Donkor also insisted Richard Osei Agyemang is very key to the club and that having a bad doesn’t make him a bad player.
“We are together in this so we need to fight as a team, Patrick Osei Agyemang has been fantastic for Ashgold throughout his stay with Ashgold so one bad game doesn’t make him a bad player.
“I will urge him to cheer up, concentrate because we are with him in this”
The defender is set to undergo further examination on Wednesday to ascertain the extent of his injury.
