Ghana U23 star Majeed Ashmeru has spoken about his admiration for former WAFA captain and teammate, Gideon Waja.
The Red Bull Salzburg playmaker in an exclusive interview with FootballMadeInGhana revealed he shared a brotherly bond with the talismanic midfielder since his arrival at Academy in 2016.
Despite playing alongside some of the country’s best talents during his time at the club, Ashmeru named Waja as his reference point.
“I think it’s only one person and it’s Gideon Waja. When I went to WAFA, he was ahead of me but he was like a brother from day 1. If WAFA was to have a game it all depended on Waja because he understood the system better than anyone else. Before I left there he was the only senior player in the team so he controlled everyone “
Gideon Waja currently plies his trade with Toronto FC II in USL League One.
