Ashantigold defender Eric Donkor has stated they will take inspiration from Black Meteors recent heroics in Algeria after their slim win over RS Berkane in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.

The Black Meteors drew 1-1 with Algeria at home before going all the way to beat the Algerians by 1-0 to qualify for the African Under 23 Championship in Egypt.

Ashantigold managed to beat RS Berkane by 3-2 in the first leg putting them in a difficult situation ahead of the second leg in Morroco.

But the former Asante Kotoko player has insisted he and his teammates will be  inspired by the  heroics of the Black Meteors in Algeria and go all the way to Morroco and qualify to the next stage of the competition.

“The Black Meteors are a source of motivation for us, even when all hopes seem to be dashed, the managed to gain qualification from no where.

“Though we are a young side, but we will still fight because nobody knew RS Berkane till last season when they became runners up.

“Sure we will use Black Meteors game to motivate ourselves. Our situation is even better than theirs. They drew at home and went all the way to Algeria and won. We can also achieve that with hardwork. All is not is not lost. ”

The second leg will come off on Saturday September 28 at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morroco.
