#CAFCL: Match Report – Kotoko 2-0 Etoile Du Sahel – Augustine Okrah and Richard Arthur’s strikes gives Asante Kotoko a huge first leg advantage

Asante Kotoko defeated Etoile Du Sahel by 2-0 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary rounds

A goal in each halves from Augustine Okrah and Richard Arthur secured the first leg advantage for the Porcupine Warriors.

Kjetil Zachariassen handed Augustine Okrah his first start in the Kotoko shirt, Whilst Songne Yacouba was named on the bench.

It was a dream start for Asante Kotoko as Augustine Okrah broke the deadlock of the game in the 2nd minute, the former Al Hilal player curled in a beautiful freekick to put the fans in Agog.

Kotoko took control of the game with some beautiful exchanges at the back.

Etoile Du Sahel gradually werm themselves in the game Ben Arabi and Lahmar Hamza combined beautifully well in the right but Agyemang Badu did well to clear the danger.

George Abege came close for Asante Kotoko after he was set up by Gyamfi, but his effort was blocked by Ben Aziza.

Augustine Okrah also tried his luck with a long range shot but effort went wide.

Augustine Okrah nearly get his second for the day in the 36th minute, but his strike blast off the crossbar.

Hamza Lahmar tested Felix Annan for the first time but his feeble shot was easily dealt by the keeper.

Asante Kotoko called for penalty was overlooked after Emmanuel Gyamfi was brought down in the penalty box.

None of the side was able to find the back of the net after four minutes of additional time. The first half ended 1-0 for Kotoko

It was all Kotoko after the recess as they look to add on to their lead.

Richard Arthur blasted his effort wide after he was nicely set up by Gyamfi.

Richard Arthur finally made it 2-0 for Kotoko after pouncing a shot from Yeboah and sent the keeper the wrong way.

Kjetil Zachariassen introduced Songne Yacouba for Richard Arthur in the 61st minute as the Porcupines go all out in search of more goals.

It could have been 3- 0 for the Porcupines but George Abege failed to tap in Emmanuel Gyamfi’s cross.

Kotoko effected their second substitution taking off Emmanuel Gyamfi for Kelvin Andoh in the 78th minute.

The visitors came close for the first time in the second half but Agyemang Badu acted quikcly to head the ball away.

Jordan Opoku was also brought off Godfred Asiamah in the 89th mimute.

Songne Yacouba nearly got his name on the scoresheet in the additional time, but his feeble was stopped by Bdiri Makrem.

None of the sides was able to score another goal as the referee blew the full time whistle.

Kotoko 2-0 Etoile. The second leg will come off at Sousse in two weeks.
