The Black Meteors returned to a rapturous welcome after beating Algeria to qualify for the third edition of the Africa U23 Championship.

A jubilant crowd received the team upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport on Thursday morning.

After last weekend’s 1-1 draw in Accra, coach Tanko and his charges defied all odds to upset the young foxes in the return encounter on Tuesday.

Yaw Yeboah scored a beautiful solo goal in the 70th minute to give Ghana a hard fought 2-1 aggregate win.

The Black Meteors will join hosts Egypt and other qualified countries at the tournament which will be staged between 5-22 November.

The winner of the tournament and two runner ups will automatically advance to represent Africa at the 2020 Olympics Men’s Football Competition.
