Black Meteors midfielder Majeed Ashmeru has delivered a blunt assessment of what he thought about his performance in the draw against Algeria in the 2020 Africa Olympic qualifier.
The Ghana U23 team were held 1-1 draw by the Fennec Foxes in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, last Friday.
The talented playmaker struggled to have the desired impact as Dauda Mohammed scored from the penalty spot to cancel out Dorgame Aden’s first-half strike for the Algerians.
“I was really disappointed in myself especially because everyone knows what we are doing in Europe so we needed to show it here. We didn’t have a very good game and I’m really disappointed in myself and teammates” the Red Bull Salzburg attacker said in an exclusive interview with FootballMadeInGhana.com
Ashmeru and his teammates will have another chance at redemption when they take on the Algerians in the reverse fixture in Algiers on Tuesday.
The winner of the two legged game will qualify for the CAF U-23 championship in Egypt.
