Assistant coach of AshantiGold, Yussif Sheriff Mambo has revealed the tactics employed by his side in their 3-0 win over Akonangui FC in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round on Saturday.
Shafiu Mumuni scored a hattrick at the Len Clay Stadium to ensure the Miners progressed 4-1 on aggregate.
”It was a very tough match. We realized they had very good midfielders from the first leg so we packed our midfield as well and we were fortunate to get a draw. However, we switched to 4-3-3 system at home and a 3-0 result is what came out of it” Yussif told reporters after the match.
AshantiGold will face 2019 CAF Confederation Cup runners up RS Berkane in the next qualifying round.
The Ghana Premier League side will host the Oranges for the first leg between the weekend of 13–15 September and the return leg at the Stade Municipal de Berkane between 27–29 September.
