Medeama SC striker Awudu Tahiru was on fire for the Black Satellites, hitting a brace to see off Burundi by 2-1 in a difficult start to the All Africa Games on Saturday afternoon.
The brace from the talented Medeama forward in the first half was all that the Ghana side needed to see off their difficult opponents from East Africa at the Stade Municipal El Manssouria.
The 19-year-old Tahiru hit the back of the net for the Black Satellites on the 16th minute with a brilliant strike to put Ghana in front.
The on-fire Tahiru doubled the lead for Ghana with a brace five minutes later before Burundi reduced the on the stroke of halftime.
Ghana will lock horns with Senegal on Wednesday before they square off with Mali in their final Group B game on August 24.
