Tokyo 2020 qualifiers: Black Queens edge Fire Ladies 2-1 in preparatory game

The Black Queens defeated Fire Service Ladies 2-1 on Thursday in a friendly ahead of their upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifier.

Gladys Amfobea and Elizabeth Owusuaa scored to inspire a comeback victory after the Fire Ladies had taken the lead at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence in Prampram.

The women’s national team will face Gabon in a two legged fixture, first on 26 August, 2019 with the return leg set for 3rd September, 2019.

It’s a chance for redemption for coach Mercy Tagoe and her girls after failing to impress at the 2018 AWCON.

Having failed to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, making it to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be the ultimate target for the Black Queens who are yet to make an appearance in the multisport competition.
