Ghana in Pot 1 for 2021 AFCON Qualifiers

The Black Stars of Ghana will begin another journey towards making their 23rd appearance at the AFCON in 2021 after they were put in Pot 1 for the qualifiers.

The Black Stars will not be facing the likes of Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’ Ivoire, Egypt, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, DR Congo, Senegal and Tunisia who are the top ranked sides in Africa.

Pot 2 comprises Benin, Cape Verde, Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Kenya, Libya, Mauritania, Niger, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia.

Angola, Central Africa Republic, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Sierra Leon, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo and Zimbabwe make up Pot 3.

Burundi, Botswana, Comoros, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Equatorial Guinea, Lesotho and Rwanda have been drawn in Pot 5 with Pot 6 being the least ranked sides in Africa made up of Chad, Djibouti, Gambia, Liberia, Mauritius, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles and South Sudan.

The four time Africa Champions will be looking for an opportunity to better their disappointing performance at this year’s Cup of Nations in Egypt after crashing out at the round of 16 stage losing on penalties to Tunisia.
