Dreams FC Global which comprises of only the club’s former players plying their trade outside the shores of Ghana defeated the teams current players by two goals to one at the Ashalley Botwe Newtown Park on Friday.
The game which forms part of the club’s tenth anniversary celebrations was also aimed at letting the folks at where the club started from to have a feel of the team.
The game started brightly with Dreams FC Global dictating the pace of the game with Ashdod midfielder Leonard Owusu in the thick of affairs.
The first clear chance of the game fell to Benjamin Tetteh after some neat build up involving John Antwi but Peter Sarkodie who was in post saved the danger.
DFC Global started using the flanks to great effect with Benjamin Tetteh switching wide whilst John Antwi and Johnson Owusu left the attack.
The deadlock of the game was broken in the 25th minute when John Antwi soared high above his marker to head a Benjamin Tetteh free kick.
Dreams FC stepped up their game and mounted an attack through Samuel Alabi in the middle but he found Ben Nash Quansah a tough customer as he thwarted his efforts.
DFC Global made it 2-0 in the 30th minute when Johnson Oppong created space and hit a ferrocious strike from 24 yards which goalkeeper Peter Sarkodie had no answer.
After DFC Global went 2-0 up,the game were generally played in midfield with both teams displaying great ball possession.
Emmanuel Lomotey came close early in the second half but the Dreams FC defenders were able to clear the danger before a quack counter attack saw Richard Addai being brought down in the box. Samuel Alabi stepped up and easily dispatched goalkeeper Isaac Akrong to make it 2-1.
Several changes were made with the likes of Michael Sarpong,Kingsley Yeboah, Ginaid Aruna, Ransford Sellasie and others coming on for DFC Global whilst for the Dreams FC team Executive Chairman Kurt ES Okraku, James Wiafe Iniesta,Issah Yakubu and Cletus Nombil all came in.
Substitute goalkeeper Solomon pulled two stupendous saves in two minutes as he tipped an audacious 45 yards lob from Kingsley Yeboah before saving a one on one situation with John Antwi.
DFC Global had a penalty in the 75th minute but John Antwi’s paneka kick was saved by Solomon.
Despite a late onslaught from Dreams FC, Goalkeeper Ishawu Yahaya who replayed Peter Sarkodie saved the situation.
The game ended 2-1 in favor of DFC Global
