Kotoko forward Abdul Fatawu Safiu believes the Black Stars can end the country’s 37-year wait for a trophy at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Fatawu who missed out on a spot in Ghana’s final 23-man squad insists the four-time winners are capable of clinching the title for the first time since 1982.

Kwesi Appiah’s side have come close to ending their drought at the last six tournaments, having reached the semi-finals, and even going as far as the final in 2010 and 2015.

“I think the team is capable, all the guys are ready. This is the time we have to go for it. Ghanaian have waited for too long and I believe this the time for team to bring back the joy and happiness to the people” the Former Eleven Wonders playmaker said in an interview with FootballMadeInGhana.com

Ghana are in group F alongside Cameroon, Benin and Guinea Bissau.
