NC SPECIAL: Sarfo Duku insists Kotoko were not coerced to rescind decision not to play Hearts

Despite eating humble pie and rescinding their decision not to honour the semifinal clash of the NC Special Competition Tier I with sworn rivals Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko insists they were not coerced to rescind their earlier position.

The Porcupine Warriors have suddenly become a laughing stock, with many describing their management as having no balls when the NC insisted their request will not be granted.

Kudjoe Fianoo, a member of the organising committee of the Special Competition, had earlier revealed that Asante Kotoko’s request of having 40% gate proceeds had been accepted.

The revelation compelled the Porcupine Warriors to rescind their decision of not playing the semifinal clash with the Phobians.

But the whole dram took a new twist when Chairman of the Committee, Sammy Kuffour insisted Kotoko will not be entitled to any increment in the gate proceeds.

Kotoko had no option than to honour the game but their Communication Manager insists they were not coerced to succumb to that decision.

“The Normalization Committee didn’t coerce Asante Kotoko into rescinding our decision,” He told Sikka FM Sports.

“They’re just passing through Ghana football and can’t coerce us into anything. It’s purely coincidental.

“We rather commend Mr. Fianoo for the maturity he displayed in the impasse,” he added.

All is now set for the Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday with the winner picking a ticket for next years CAF Champions League.
