NC Special Competition: Hearts pip Karela FC to extend winning streak

Hearts of Oak extended their winning streak in the NC Special Competition with a solitary win over Karela FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Christopher Bonney’s second half penalty earned the vital victory for the Phobians as they cement their position on top of the table.

The Phobians extend their lead at the top of the table to four points with the slim win over the Aiyinase based club.

The Phobians came close to getting the opener on the brink of half time after a miscommunication in the Karela FC box following a corner from Christopher Bonney, was nearly buried by the home side.

Following a barren first half, Karela United FC returned from the break a better side, creating several chances.

Daniel Kordie was strongly impeded by a Karela FC defender resulting in a penalty for the Phobians.

Christopher Bonney expertly converted to give the home side the lead.

Bonney’s spot kick became the only goal of the competition giving the Phobians all three points.
