Brobbey hits brace in Dutch Under 17 win


Ajax teenager of Ghanaian parentage Brian Brobbey netted a brace on Monday as the Dutch National Under 17 team defeated England by five goals to two to book their place in the quarter finals of the 2019 European Under 17 championship.

Brobbey was the star of the day at the Tolka Park as he netted the equalizer for his side in the tenth minute after Taylor Harwood-Bellis had given the Young Three Lions the lead three minutes earlier.

The budding striker could have netted a double before the break but his ferocious drive from outside the penalty box hit the the woodwork to his dismay.

With the game at 3-2, Brobbey scored his second of the day through a penalty in the 58th minute after an English player had handled a goal bound shot.

Naci Unuver made it 5-2 for the Dutch in the 61st minute as they qualified to the last eight of the competition.

Brobbey is the kid brother of Almere City star Kelvin Luckassen and Hertha Berlin’s Derrick Luckassen.
