Accra Hearts of Oak ended Liberty Proffesionals’ unbeaten home run in the GFA Special Competition at the Carl Reindolf Park on Sunday.
A solitary strike from Kwadwo Obeng Jr. was enough to secure all three points for a rejuvenated Hearts of Oak
The Scientific Soccer Lads came into the game on a fine run of two wins and a draw in their last three matches against a Phobian side that has managed one win in their last three attempts.
It was an exciting opening 40 minutes as both sides enjoyed good spells in possession without causing the goalkeepers too much problem.
However the visitors got their noses in front on the stroke of halftime through Obeng Jnr who rose highest to head home from a corner.
The second half was a keen contest with Liberty shading the possession stat but Kim Grant’s men kept their attackers at bay and remained largely untroubled.
The Phobians seem to have recovered from their stuttering start to the competition with two wins in a row.
