Hasaacas Ladies stage stupendous comeback to win Women’s Special Competition

Hasaacas Ladies staged a magnificent comeback from two goals down to beat Ampem Darkoa Ladies 3-2 to win the Women’s Special Competition at the El Wak Sports Stadium on Sunday.  

The spirited Doo Girls announced their intentions of staging a stupendous outing by firing the first goal in the 10th minute but the goal was flagged offside

Ampem Darkoaa Ladies’ Ophelia Serwaa unleashed a thunderous drive that went straight through the leaking hands of goalkeeper Faustina Nyamekye to set the tone for a marathon score line.

The Techiman-based side kept pushing for more goals and their efforts were rewarded 10 minutes later when goalkeeper Faustina Nyamekye allowed Mavis Owusu’s drive to flip through her fingers to give them a 2-0 lead.

Just as it looked like an Ampem Darkoaa day, Evelyn Badu reduced the tally with a sexy finish from a romantic build-up five minutes to the break.

On thr stroke of half time, Black Maidens star girl Milot Pokuaa restored parity with a nice strike to leave the second half open.

The second half began with Ampem Darkoaa Ladies getting more chances but could not utilize them.

Ophelia Amponsah got a bright chance to give her side the lead but she was stopped by an improved goalie Faustina Nyamekye.

Black Queens defender Linda Eshun released a powerful shot which was handled by an Ampem Darkoaa Ladies defender in the glaring view of referee Joyce Appiah who did not hesitate to whistle for a penalty.

Skipper of Hasaacas Lasdies and top scorer of the competition, Pepertual Agyekum expertly converted the spot kick to hand Yussif Basigi’s side the deserved win.

This will be the second time Hasaacas Ladies have beaten Ampem Darkoaa Ladies in the finals of the Women’s Competition to win the title with the first happening at the Tema Sports Stadium in 2016.
