Ghanaian duo Ashia and Mpong off to Iraq for new adventure

Ghanaian duo Kennedy Ashia and Richard Mpong are in Iraq to begin a new adventure with Kurdistan Division 1 League side Darbandikhan Sports Club.

The duo signed a year deal each with the Iraqi side a week ago and have joined them to start preparing for their new marriage.

The pair left the shores of Ghana on Sunday afternoon to begin their new adventure.

Ashia, a key member of the Ghana U20 at the World Youth Championship in Turkey in 2013 was the skipper of Liberty Professionals until he moved to Sudan to play in the Sudanese League.

Experienced winger Ricahrd Mpong whose playing career has seen him play for top local clubs including Medeama SC, Asante Kotoko, Aduana Stars and Elmina Sharks is expected to introduce his experience to help his new side.

Both players have been household names in the Ghana Premier League.
