In the absence of the more competitive, Ghana Premier League, clubs have been engaged in friendly matches to stay active. The weekend saw a number of matches being played nationwide.
Medeama continued their fine pre-season scoring form when they thrashed Sekondi Hasaacas 5-0 at Tarkwa. Former Asante Kotoko marksman, Kwame Boateng scored a brace while John Arthur, Kwasi Donsu and Amos Korankye had a goal each.
Liberty Professionals beat Ashantigold 2-1 at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, Obuasi with Tamimu Muntala and Brite Andoh scoring from the spot for Liberty. Appiah McCarthy had the consolation goal for the Obuasi side.
Asante Kotoko won 2-0 against New Edubiase at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with goals from strikers Frederick Boateng and Obed Owusu. Dreams FC for the second time running failed to win their second game against a Premier side at Dawu as they drew goalless with Inter Allies.
Elmina Sharks trekked to the Cape Coast Sports Stadium to win 1-0 courtesy a Benjamin Tweneboah goal against Hearts of Oak. Karela United also lost 3-2 to Division Two side, Skyy FC.
Obed Adomako, Ebenezer Edukwaw and Blessed Nyamekye (own goal) fetched the goals for Skyy FC. Godfred Saka and Diewuise Taylor were on target for Karela United. No goal was recorded between Okyeman Planners and WAFA at the Ho Sports Stadium.
At Techiman, Eleven Wonders beat Kintampo FC 1-0 but Bechem United lost by the same margin Division One side, B. A. United at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
