Al Makasa striker John Antwi says he has never anticipated playing for the Pharaoh’s of Egypt though he will weigh options if they approach him.
Antwi who is on loan from champions Al Ahly has been in superb form netting nine goals in ten Egyptian Premier League games which has seen him moved on top of the goal king chart.
The Ghanaian has been arguably the best striker in the Egyptian topflight over the past four seasons netting goals for fun though his Ghana national team appearances has been limited to only one which he had in a friendly against Saudi Arabia two months ago.
With the Pharaoh’s securing their first FIFA World Cup berth since 1990, a section of the Egyptian fans are craving for the naturalization of Antwi to partner Mohammed Salah in attack and the Ghanaian hitman says he will make a choice if the North Africans approach him officially.
“Well, I have not thought about representing Egypt so I can’t say my decision but will certainly decide if the proposal comes,” Antwi told footballmadeinghana.com.
“So far the season has been really good for me as I have scored nine goals and provided two assists in ten game. However, as a team, I think we need to do more looking at the position we are on the table.”
The talented striker will be crucial for Makasa in the 2017/2018 CAF Champions League interest.
