The National Sports Authority boss Robert Sarfo Mensah has rubbished assertions that the the Tamale Sports Stadium should not be named in honor of Ghana’s late former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama
The NSA director says the Ex-Vice President contributed a lot to the development of football in Ghana and therefore deserves to have such privilege.
”The late Aliu Mahama was a sports enthusiasts who loves the development of football in the country. We know what he did with Real Tamale United (RTU) and based on that several talents emerged and went on to play for the national team,” Sarfo told footballmadeinghana.com
”I believe he played a major role in the building of the Tamale Stadium as he is from there and was the Vice President,”
“He is one of the unsung heroes who have helped the development of soccer in this country, It is justifiable to name after him.”he added
The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo recently stated that the Tamale Sports Stadium was going to be named after the ex-Veep as he promised prior to the 2016 elections.
