Ghana defender Samuel “Mensiro Mensah says he and his Ostersunds team mates were very confident of knocking out giants Galatasary in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Swedish cup winners recorded a pulsating 1-1 draw with the former European champions at the Turk Telecom Stadium to send them out of the competition after winning the first leg 2-0 in Sweden.

Mensah who featured for 90 minutes in both encounters and put up superb performances pointed out that they believed in their capabilities and went all out for qualification.

“It was a fantastic feeling on Thursday night as we knocked out one of the giants in European football in the shape of Galatasary. We believed from day one that if we worked hard we will go through and it has happened,” Mensah told

“Now we just have to concentrate and look forward for the next stage of the competition. Personally I will say it has been a great experience for me and the whole team to play in this competition, we will do our best and our target is to at least reach the group stage as this sis our first appearance in the competition,”

Mensah has one of the trusted players of manager Graham Potter as he is very versatile and can play any where across the back four and as a defensive midfielder.
