Hearts of Oak fall on Medeama’s knife

If Hearts of Oak had it smooth against Karela United; winning 1-0 in their opening G-8 game, their second match was rough in the hands of Medeama as they lost 2-0 to the more potent Tarkwa based side in Wednesday’s Group B game at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The Phobians were actually cut to size. Medeama’s confidence was high. It glaringly showed in their movement and attack. They shot into the lead in the 15th minute through former Great Olympics and Kotoko striker, Kwame Boateng with an assist from Agyenim Boateng.

Hearts of Oak made efforts to redeem themselves but Medeama prove too strong for the Phobians assuming firm control of the game to the admiration of their fans.

Medeama goalkeeper, Yaw Ansah also remained formidable in post to deny Hearts goal opportunities with his superb saves.

Agyenim Boateng doubled Medeama’s lead in the 22nd minute and with Hearts of Oak labouring to recover, Medeama stayed confident to guard their healthy lead to the end.

Rashid Nortey of Medeama was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Medeama are on top of the group with six points. Their last game is against Karela United on Saturday.
